Magnificent Maps Year 4 Unit

Magnificent Maps builds Year 4 students’ confidence in reading, interpreting and describing maps. Students use cardinal and intercardinal directions, identify features through legends and symbols, follow routes and apply simple scale to calculate distances.

The unit supports explicit whole-class teaching, guided practice, independent work, revision and assessment. It combines an editable PowerPoint presentation and quiz with a 17-page printable unit plan containing a colour display, activity, game, five worksheets, matching answers, an assessment and a five-level rubric.
