Table of contents: teacher guide; comparison display; read-the-works panel; four discussion anchors; question lab; evidence lab; three evidence and counter-reading practice sheets with red marking pages; three-page comparative argument seminar kit; two rehearsal sheets with red marking pages; independent comparative argument assessment with marking guidance; learning evidence rubric; teaching presentation; twelve-question quiz with answer slides.

Students sustain and refine a comparison of Bindi by Kirli Saunders and the original Storm Boy novella by Colin Thiele. The bounded teaching question asks how care for animals relates to place or community in each work. Students select genuine details from complete lawful copies, develop a point-by-point response, explain one meaningful similarity and one difference, consider another defensible interpretation and revise their conclusion. The five lessons are an analysis week after prior reading, not a promise to read both books within that week.

What's included

24-page Unit Plan PDF; editable 18-slide presentation PPTX; editable 26-slide quiz PPTX with 12 question-and-answer pairs; watermarked Preview PDF. The Unit Plan has paired student and red marking pages, a seminar activity, independent assessment and rubric. The books are not included.

Learning focus

theme versus topic; paired textual evidence; comparison of how related ideas are constructed; reasoned alternative readings; evidence-based revision.

Classroom use

five 45-60 minute lessons after lawful prior reading. Support through lawful read-aloud, oral or drawn response and a partly completed organiser. Core responses use precise evidence; extension tests a counter-reading. Avoid requesting private disclosures about fire or community experience.

Answers

Red open marking guidance follows each practice and assessment sheet. A quiz answer and reason follows each question. Interpretations may differ when supported by real details from the works.

Teacher benefits

reusable paired-evidence organisers, seminar prompts that require explanations on every turn, and criterion-based feedback for a coherent comparative argument.
