Give learners clear models and real reasons to respond to one another. Two original mentor dialogues, eight supplied classroom scenarios and guided practice show the difference between repeating a preference and supporting a proposal with facts. Learners practise linking a contribution, asking a useful challenge and weighing a tradeoff before a fresh group decision assessment. Consensus is optional.

Learning focus

Learners explain an idea with a relevant reason and detail, connect their response to a peer's contribution, ask useful questions or respectful challenges, and form a conclusion that can change when new information appears. They practise clear language suited to a partner or committee discussion. A justified disagreement can meet the criteria; agreement is not required.

Classroom use

Teach as five approximately 55-minute lessons, or spread the sequence across shorter sessions. Use the slides to model, rehearse with supplied scenarios, then gather individual evidence during a fresh small-group discussion. Print low-ink student worksheets, assessment and rubric pages; print the colour displays, cards and game as needed. The teacher guidance includes reading aloud, partner rehearsal, speaking, pointing, typing or having an adult record a response without selecting the learner's idea.
