Introducing Division - Year 2
Introducing Division - Year 2 gives teachers a practical, visual sequence for building early division understanding. Students begin by sharing collections fairly and making equal groups, then connect those models to repeated addition and arrays. Later lessons introduce leftovers in real contexts and use repeated halving to connect equal sharing with halves, quarters and eighths.
The unit combines an editable 18-slide teaching presentation, an editable 22-slide quiz, colour displays and games, reusable sharing mats, differentiated black-and-white worksheets, matching answer pages, a two-page assessment and a five-level rubric. The completed 37-page unit plan is designed for a full teaching week, with enough activity and practice material for small-group rotations, support and extension.
