Informative Texts Foundation Unit
Introduce Foundation learners to the ways words and pictures work together to communicate information. Across a clear one-week sequence, students use picture clues, read familiar community signs, label animal diagrams, sequence everyday procedures, locate facts in a simple information poster and create an informative page.
The unit combines explicit teaching with practical, age-appropriate application. An editable presentation and quiz support whole-class learning, while the colour display, Community Signs Bingo, procedure cards and ordering mat provide lively discussion and hands-on practice. Differentiated low-ink worksheets build confidence before students complete the school-garden assessment and five-level rubric. Seven matching answer pages are included directly after the relevant tasks.
