Images in Texts Year 6 English Unit
Help Year 6 students explain how visual features expand, clarify and shape meaning in written and multimodal texts. This English unit develops students’ ability to identify a visual feature, interpret its evidence, connect it to written information and justify why an author or designer selected it.
The editable presentation provides explicit teaching about tables, charts, maps, diagrams, flowcharts, illustrations, captions and labels. The editable quiz supplies 10 interleaved question-and-answer pairs. Printable resources include a classroom display, two activities, two games, five worksheets with answers, a two-page assessment with answers and a five-level rubric.
Teachers can use the sequence for whole-class instruction, guided reading or writing groups, literacy rotations, independent practice, assessment preparation and multimodal-text study.
