How to Catch a Star Book Study (F–2)
Turn How to Catch a Star into a rich week of Foundation–Year 2 English learning. Students identify the character’s goal, sequence key events, track changing feelings, explain the problem and resolution, and use picture clues such as gaze, body position, distance and empty space to infer mood and message.
The lesson sequence combines explicit teaching, oral language, hands-on sequencing, collaborative game play, differentiated written response and independent transfer. Foundation students work through large pictures, choices and drawing. Year 1 students use sentence stems and short explanations. Year 2 students reason from evidence, explain how a goal drives the story and plan a simple persistence narrative.
The original picture book is not included and must be obtained separately.
