How a Text Does Its Job — Year 6 English Unit Plan
Students learn to identify a text's purpose, map its stages to their functions and explain the effect of a structural choice on an audience. They compare an original water explanation and school water-use report, practise with guided and independent tasks, and apply the method to fresh rain-garden and worm-farm cases. The final task combines a stage-to-function map with reasons for two choices; students also plan, draft and revise a coherent original explanation.
