Build connected map understanding with From Street to State, a Year 2 HASS Geography unit. Students follow the same school from a local map to a regional view and a state frame, choose useful views for questions, and explain how people, goods and services connect places. Real Australian facts are identified separately from the fictional classroom cases.

Learning focus
Local, regional and state views; map titles, labels, keys and relative position; city, state and territory distinctions; selecting evidence; comparing traveller and grower/shopper viewpoints; explaining people and goods routes; reflecting on map limits and improving clarity. The diagrams are conceptual, not-to-scale teaching models, so students do not calculate exact journey distances from them.
Answers
Yes. Ten red matching worksheet answer pages, ten quiz explanations and teacher response anchors. Open-ended examples accept other accurate reasoning.
Digital product
Digital download for classroom use. No physical product. Worksheet and game artwork is fixed in the PDF; lesson and quiz teaching text is editable.
Licence
For the purchaser's own classroom use. Do not redistribute, resell or share the files publicly.

Teaching route
Ten 60-minute lessons include retrieval, explicit modelling, guided and independent tasks, evidence discussion and reflection. An eight-session route combines selected slides and portfolio tasks while retaining the essential learning and assessment. Lesson 9 develops explanation and lesson 10 improves the representation; these are complete lesson files.
Participation and assessment
Students may talk, point, arrange labels, draw, write or dictate. Teacher guidance includes support and further challenge for each lesson. Assess map reasoning and evidence rather than handwriting or confidence. Gather individual portfolio evidence and use the Cedar Library case to check transfer.
File information
Digital download: 11 PPTX files, two PDFs, three listing TXT files and one JPEG in the customer package. Teaching text in the lesson and quiz decks is editable. Worksheet, game, assessment and rubric pages in the PDF are fixed artwork. PowerPoint-compatible software and a PDF reader are needed. No physical product.
