Foundation Sound Mapping and Spelling Choices Bundle | 3 Units
Help Foundation learners represent every sound and make useful spelling choices while composing. Three distinct units connect oral rehearsal, complete sound mapping, taught or plausible grapheme choices, rereading, evidence-based repair and purposeful short messages.
THE THREE INCLUDED UNITS
1. Say It, Stretch It, Try It: use Say, Stretch, Map, Try and Check for an unfamiliar but orally known word. Includes routine display, twelve worked-word examples, guided/core/transfer sound-position practice, Spelling Clinic partner activity, useful-label rehearsal and independent assessment.
2. Every Sound Has a Place: hear beginning, middle and ending phonemes, locate a specific omission and repair it. The cumulative bank includes sat, sip, map, ten, dog, cup, sun, lip, red, pot, mud and ship; sh is explicitly modelled before use. Includes sound-position display, model cards, missing-sound practice, Hear-Build-Repair game, labels and fresh assessment.
3. Independent Spelling Choices: say a message, retrieve a secure known word or useful base, use phonics for an unfamiliar word, then reread and revise from evidence. Contexts include lost-item labels, pet-care notes and play invitations. Includes spelling-choice display, message-purpose cards, progressive worksheets, Spelling Adviser game and independent message assessment.
LEARNING FOCUS
Segment the complete spoken word; map every sound position; choose taught or plausible graphemes; check an attempt by rereading; repair a specific missing or mismatched sound; explain the evidence; transfer the routine to meaningful labels and messages. Plausible early spelling remains useful evidence; mastery of untaught conventional spellings is not assumed.
WHAT IS INCLUDED ACROSS THE BUNDLE
Three complete printable unit-plan PDFs: 75 pages in total. Three editable teaching presentations: 54 slides in total. Three editable quizzes: 78 slides in total, with twelve paired questions and explanations per unit. Total core content: 207 pages/slides. Each unit has its own teacher guide, five-lesson sequence, classroom reference, worked examples, guided/core/transfer practice, purposeful partner activity or game, rehearsal, independent assessment, matching answer or marking pages and learning-evidence rubric.
CLASSROOM USE
Foundation / Prep / Kindergarten English. Use the distinct five-lesson sequences for explicit teaching, small groups, literacy rotations, partner practice, consolidation and individual assessment. Support, core and extension pathways keep the target skill intact while varying prompts, response modes and independence. Select the sequence that fits students' taught sound–letter knowledge rather than treating this as a single uniform programme for every learner.
