Students learn to explain how a simple rainwater collection system works to a named listener. The teaching sequence progresses from accurate system facts and audience needs to cause-and-sequence decisions, complex when/because sentences, technical vocabulary, a labelled native digital diagram, rehearsal feedback and an independently observed 2–3-minute delivery. The teacher guide provides a factual brief and an original 150–250-word model speech. The final record captures actual listener response, separate pitch/tone/pace/volume observations and one specific change from rehearsal to delivery.

Learning focus

Accurate informative sequence; technical vocabulary explained for an audience; two purposeful complex sentences; voice choices in pitch, tone, pace and volume; useful digital/visual stage information; actual delivery and a documented rehearsal improvement.

Classroom use

Five 45–60-minute lessons. Use the display and role cards for modelling, worksheets and challenge stations for guided/independent practice, then the digital transfer and listener records before the observed assessment. Support options include visual role cues, stems, partner rehearsal and AAC or supported communication. Extension asks for a justified answer to a fresh listener question. The quiz checks knowledge alongside the observed presentation.

Formats and answers

25-page Unit Plan PDF with six directly paired red answer/marking pages; editable 18-slide PowerPoint presentation; editable 26-slide PowerPoint quiz; 69-page watermarked Preview. The Unit Plan also includes model responses on the role cards.

Teacher benefits

The supplied rainwater-system facts avoid a need for students to invent statistics. The digital visual is linked to spoken timing and meaning. Rehearsal and listener evidence support a specific next teaching step.
