Country/Place Connections - Year 2
Explore how people, water, living things and responsibilities connect through the named Budj Bim/Gunditjmara case. Students ask questions, identify sources, record ideas, compare past/present evidence and perspectives, build a three-idea connection map and explain a supported conclusion. A public Gunditj Mirring account and a named Torres Strait Islander example add specific perspectives without treating any one case as universal.
Teach ten complete 60-minute lessons or eight integrated 60-minute sessions. The compact route pairs lessons 1+2 and 9+10, uses selected slides from those separate files and retains the same core evidence and assessment. All required assessment is completed by session eight.

Learning focus
Country/Place interconnections; questions and evidence; source attribution; recorded information; past/present comparisons; visitor and Traditional Owner perspectives; supported conclusions; safe proposals and permission limits; communication and unfamiliar-case transfer.
Classroom use
Use source-card discussion, indoor or approved local observation, the cooperative game and a growing evidence portfolio. Before the local-Country lesson, verify the school’s attribution and source through school-approved information and the relevant Traditional Owner organisation. Record “needs checking” if attribution is not approved; the supplied named Budj Bim case remains available for the complete inquiry and assessment. The fictional Riverbend scene is an indoor observation alternative, not evidence of a real community.
Teacher benefits
Students may speak, draw, write, dictate, select pictures or symbols, gesture, or use a communication board/device. Assess the same understanding and reasoning across response modes. Model pages illustrate possible responses; open questions accept other accurate, source-supported answers. Assessment does not score handwriting, neatness, confidence or volume.
Digital product and licence
Digital download; no physical item. Classroom-use licence for the purchasing teacher; do not redistribute, resell or share the files publicly. PPTX files contain editable teaching/quiz text; PDF worksheet artwork is supplied as finished pages. PowerPoint or compatible software is needed for PPTX files and a PDF viewer for PDFs. Local maps, approval and local source material are teacher-supplied. All illustrations are conceptual or clearly fictional, not exact cultural-site photographs/maps or reproduced First Nations artwork. School approval is required before any observation or care action.
