Counting On Maths Unit – Year 1 teaches students to begin with the larger addend and count on the smaller number to solve addition problems within 20.

The editable 22-slide presentation introduces the strategy, models examples, supports guided practice and prompts mathematical discussion. The editable 22-slide quiz includes 10 questions, each followed by an answer and explanation.

The 37-page printable Unit Plan provides a complete week of classroom material.
