Character Detectives — Foundation–Year 2
Character Detectives gives early-primary teachers a clear, engaging sequence for exploring how readers understand characters. Students notice appearance and story clues, distinguish traits from feelings, infer from words and actions, explain motivation and consequences, identify turning points, compare characters and create an original character.
The editable presentation combines explicit modelling, guided discussion, sentence frames and short original examples. Printable tasks progress from Foundation picture clues to Year 1 trait evidence and Year 2 motivation, comparison and change. Colour activities, a complete assessment and an A4 landscape rubric support flexible whole-class, small-group and independent use.
