Teach a repeatable routine: find a part you know, read the base, add the parts, check meaning, then write and check. Learners explore un-, re- and mis- and taught suffixes through natural classroom examples. They build helpful and unhelpful, compare careless and carelessness, use build in rebuild and builder, and retain thought in thoughtful. They read the complete word and explain its meaning before checking their written spelling.
A practical Word Workshop adds twelve numbered READ/SPELL missions, two player tile sets, a six-station board and a checked key. Game rules explain setup, turns, errors, assistance, end conditions, support and extension. Children record their own word, parts, meaning and corrections.

Learning focus
Meaningful bases, prefixes and suffixes; complete-word reading; real-word meaning; accurate base letters; independent spelling; checking and correction. Children learn that meaningful parts and syllables are different and that not every word-edge letter group is an affix.
Classroom use
Five lessons of approximately 45–60 minutes, with explicit modelling, guided practice, independent work, differentiation and assessment. Suitable for whole-class teaching, pairs and literacy rotations. Use printed tiles/cards, pencils and counters. Oral checks may span two normal literacy rotations.
Teacher benefits
A ready-to-teach sequence with practical word building, reduced-item support, taught extensions and separate evidence of reading, meaning and independent spelling. Colour teaching/game resources and low-ink written tasks are included.
Digital product and licence
Digital teaching resource; no physical item is supplied. Check the current Sukindi shop licence terms for sharing or school-wide use.
