Build a CVC Word - Foundation English Unit Plan

Build a CVC Word develops Foundation learners' ability to read and spell consonant-vowel-consonant words in both directions. Children move one counter for each phoneme, map one taught grapheme to each sound, blend the complete word, then cover and spell it again. A controlled core bank of sat, pat, tap, mat, map, pan, pin, tin, tip, sit, sip and pit supports cumulative practice. The sequence requires attention to all three sound positions rather than picture or word-family guessing.
