Addition and Subtraction Stories gives Foundation learners a concrete, age-appropriate route from everyday language to a number sentence. Students identify what is there at the start, notice whether more objects join or some leave, represent the change with counters and drawings, choose + or −, solve by counting or subitising, and explain whether the answer makes sense.
The teaching sequence is supported by a 15-slide editable presentation and a 22-slide editable quiz with 10 question-and-answer pairs. The 28-page unit plan includes two classroom displays, a reusable story mat, six colour game pages, seven student worksheet pages, eight answer pages, two assessment pages and a five-level rubric. Core examples remain within 10, while Story Challenge to 20 and the advanced Peg the Answer cards provide optional extension.
