A Bag and a Bird Book Study – Foundation-Year 2

Guide Foundation–Year 2 students through a purposeful A Bag and a Bird book study that builds comprehension from noticing story details to explaining ideas independently. Students identify characters and setting, sequence the beginning, middle and ending, explain the problem and solution, use actions as character evidence, discuss the story message, retell key events and create a concise summary.

The package combines explicit teaching with colourful collaborative resources, differentiated low-ink worksheets, red teacher answers, a review quiz and an original assessment. Support pages use visual cues and sentence-level scaffolds, while extension pages ask students to justify ideas and write more independently.

The A Bag and a Bird book or text is not included and is required for the complete book study.
